GO-TO Safety Services Manitoba for Everything Ergonomic

Did you know musculoskeletal injuries caused by repetitive motion or poor positioning accounted for more than 4,000 of the 5,000 naturally-caused injuries reported by Manitoba workers in 2007?

This high incidence of musculoskeletal injuries –formerly known as soft-tissue injuries – is an important fact to note when looking at workplace safety in our province, especially around this time. Soft Tissue Injury/Musculoskeletal Injury Prevention Week runs Sept. 27 through Oct. 3 across Canada and Safety Services Manitoba is proud to be part of a greater network of safety service providers with an eye on reducing musculoskeletal injuries.

Throughout STI/MSI Prevention Week, workplaces throughout the province will have access to prevention tips and fact sheets prepared by Safety Services Canada – our parent body. These resources provide the basics that we hope will help you and your coworkers better protect yourselves – and the bottom line is “survival of the fittest.” Where ergonomics is concerned, survival means enjoying a healthy, productive workplace where these types of injuries are things of the past.

It means adopting new views in five main areas – knowledge, safety culture, health, wellbeing and awareness – and working together to prevent injuries caused by poor positioning and repetitive movements. This takes an investment from management all the way down to front-line workers, but Safety Services Manitoba is always here to help.

Whether you have questions about positioning, work station set-up or general safety concerns, Safety Services Manitoba is your GO-TO source for safety. Call 949-1085 for information or support.
