Steps for Life
Safety Services Manitoba is proud to support Winnipeg’s Steps for Life walk for victims of workplace tragedy.
More than $10,000 was raised at the second annual
Steps for Life – Walking for Victims of Workplace Tragedy - on Sunday, May 2, at Kildonan Park!
Some 300 people braved cold, wet weather for the 5 km fundraising walk to help support families who have suffered from a workplace fatality, life-altering injury or occupational disease. Steps for Life is the primary fundraising event for Threads of Life, a national registered charity dedicated to supporting families of workplace tragedy.
Steps for Life raises awareness about the importance of health and safety within workplaces and to the public. It’s a unique way to educate your community about the devastating ripple effects of a workplace tragedy and how we can work together to prevent others from being injured or killed on the job.
Families, friends and co-workers and employers walk to raise awareness about the importance of injury prevention in the workplace and to raise funds for family support programs and services to help victims of workplace tragedy. Last year across Canada, the walk raised more than $158,000 in cash for family support programs and services.
The Manitoba walk was one of 28 that took place across Canada - twice as many as in 2009.
Safety Services Manitoba would like to thank the sponsors who made this event such a success.
