The fifth annual Steps for Life – Walking for Families of Workplace Tragedy – was a huge success! Over 300 participants gathered at Kildonan Park in Winnipeg for the 5 km fundraising walk on Sunday, May 5, 2013 – and it turned out to be a sunny, beautiful spring day!
The Winnipeg walk was one of 33 that took place across Canada. The Steps for Life walk is the primary fundraising event for Threads of Life, a national charity dedicated to supporting families who have suffered from a workplace fatality, life-altering injury or occupational disease.
Brittany’s Bmurrs once again had a record turnout – over 125 walkers were part of the team that assembled in memory of Brittany Murray!
Participants raised a total of $34,602 to support families and injured workers, including a generous $10,000 cheque presented by Family Services and Labour Minister Jennifer Howard to Judy Murphy, SSM’s President and CEO.
The committee members would like to thank the sponsors, volunteers and walkers who turned out to support Steps for Life.
