The sixth annual Steps for Life: Walking for Families of Workplace Tragedy was once again a success! About 300 Manitobans gathered at Kildonan Park on Sunday, May 4, 2014 to show their support and dedication to raising funds and awareness for Threads of Life.
Threads of Life, a national charity, is dedicated to supporting families whose loved ones have experienced a life-altering workplace injury or who were killed on the job.
So far, Manitobans have raised over $24,000 for Threads of Life, including a generous $10,000 donation from the office of Minister Erna Braun, responsible for Manitoba Labour and Immigration.
Judy Murphy, SSM’s President and CEO, acted as emcee for the event and introduced a lineup of inspiring and dedicated individuals, including:
- Crystal Baldwin, Senior Safety and Health Officer for Manitoba Labour and Immigration
- Ross Eadie, City Councillor, Mynarski Ward
- Graham Murray, family spokesperson who spoke on behalf of his father, Bob, who was killed when the hydro pole he was working on collapsed
On behalf of Steps for Life, we would like to extend a huge thank you to all of our amazing sponsors, volunteers and supporters!
See you next year!
