Respirator Fit Testing

Safety Services Manitoba provides both qualitative & quantitative respirator fit testing services to help you determine if your respirator is working for you!

Proper fitting respirators are essential for workplace safety. If this key piece of personal protective equipment does not fit properly, workers are at risk from air-borne hazards.

Our experienced safety and health professionals offer:

  • Qualitative and quantitative fit testing options.
  • Testing for all makes and models of respirators.
  • A written report of completion upon successful testing.

Qualitative fit test (QLFT)

A pass/fail test method that relies on the individual’s sensory response to detect a challenge agent to assess the respirator fit.

QLFT is ideal for less hazardous working environments such as dust, short term non-life-threatening chemical exposures, etc.

Quantitative fit test (QNFT)

A test method that uses an instrument to assess the amount of leakage into the respirator to assess respirator fit.

QNFT is recommended for IDLH (Immediately Dangerous to Life and Health) work environments, i.e., confined spaces, chlorine rooms, firefighting, emergency spill response etc.
