Mobile Elevated Work Platforms Train the Trainer

Course Description

This course will delve into teaching MEWP(Mobile Elevated Work Platforms) trainers the skills required to become competent instructors for adult learners.

This program will begin with the same program an MEWP participant would learn to ensure potential trainers have a solid working knowledge of the aerial work platforms; this includes a written and practical skill assessment to validate training competencies.

Participants are then expected to spend up to 30 minutes teaching the MEWP course to the other participants to ensure they become comfortable instructing this course at their workplace.

The training provides students with the most current legislative information including the CAN/CSA-B354.4-02 (R2013). Participants will receive a certificate upon successful completion of this course.

Practical Evaluation

Participants will each drive the MEWP through a course set up by the instructor to test driving abilities.

4(2) without limiting the generality of an employer’s duty under subsection (1), every employer shall

(b) Provide to all his workers such information, instruction, training, supervision and facilities to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the safety, health and welfare at work of all his workers;

(c) Ensure that all his workers, and particularly his supervisors, foremen, charge hands or similar persons, are acquainted with any safety or Health hazards which may be encountered by the workers in the course of their service, and that workers are familiar with the use of all devices or equipment provided for their protection.

(h) Ensure that all of the employer’s workers are supervised by a person who

(i) is competent, because of knowledge, training or experience, to ensure that work is performed in a safe manner.

 

* Safety Services Manitoba along with industry best practices recommend individuals who receive the Train the Trainer program, teach the program at a minimum of at least one time per year.  Trainers must also educate themselves to any legislative changes that could affect the course material content to be trained.  Our Train the Trainer certificates expire after 3 years.
