Mental Health Awareness with Project 11

Craig Heisinger, or Zinger as he’s more commonly known as, will speak about the development of Project 11, a positive mental health initiative for grades K-8 through the True North Youth Foundation.

One in five Canadians will develop a mental illness at some time in their lives and no one should suffer in silence. Some vital skills practiced in Project 11 are resiliency and feeling comfortable in your own skin. In middle years especially, some students deal with low self-esteem and feeling stuck when life gets tough. Project 11 increases self-awareness, helps students find confidence within and strengthens their classroom community to promote healthy habits that will last a lifetime.

Craig Heisinger is the Senior Vice President & Director, Hockey Operations and Assistant General Manager of the Winnipeg Jets & Manitoba Moose. Zinger is an advocate for the True North Youth Foundation’s mental wellness program, Project 11.

Project 11 was created in honour of Zinger’s close friend, Rick Rypien and his desire to help kids by offering mental health education and support. Zinger will share his heartfelt story about his friendship with Rypien and the message that is being carried on through Project 11.
