Part-Time Road Safety Instructor

Help make Manitoba’s roads safer! Safety Services Manitoba is looking for a part-time contract Road Safety Instructor to deliver courses on trailer towing, defensive driving, and mature driver safety. If you’re retired or semi-retired and passionate about road safety, we’d love to hear from you!

What We’re Looking For:

  • A valid Class 5 driver’s license (Class 1 with air brake endorsement or Class 2 Bus/School Bus certification is a plus)
  • Availability during the day, with some evening and weekend courses.
  • Knowledge of the Manitoba Highway Traffic Act and related road safety regulations.
  • Comfort with computers, Zoom, TEAMS, and PowerPoint for online and in-person training.
  • Ability to lead engaging sessions for up to 20 students at a time.
  • A clear driving record/abstract and the ability to provide a clear child abuse/criminal record check.

  • Certified Manitoba Driver Instructors (past or present)
  • Driver Education Instructors
  • Teachers (current or retired)
  • Commercial Truck Operators

Safety and Health Contract Consultant

At Safety Services Manitoba, we are dedicated to helping businesses create safer, healthier work environments through expert consulting services. We seek a highly skilled Safety and Health Contract Consultant to join our team and work with our clients to ensure their safety and health compliance needs are met effectively and efficiently.

Description: The Safety and Health Contract Consultant will work with various companies to provide expert guidance and support in developing, implementing, and maintaining safety and health programs. The ideal candidate will have a strong occupational safety and health background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to adapt to diverse industry needs.

Duties:

Safety Program Development:

    • Design and implement comprehensive safety and health programs tailored to each client’s needs.
    • Develop safety policies, procedures, and protocols in compliance with safety and health legislation.

Risk Assessment and Management:

    • Conduct thorough risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify potential safety and health risks.
    • Provide recommendations for risk mitigation and develop action plans to address identified issues.

Training and Education:

    • Deliver safety training sessions and workshops for employees at all levels.
    • Develop educational materials and resources to enhance safety awareness and compliance.

Compliance Audits and Inspections:

    • Perform safety audits and inspections to ensure adherence to safety regulations and standards.
    • Prepare detailed reports on audit findings and recommend corrective actions.

Incident Investigation:

    • Investigate workplace incidents and accidents to determine root causes and prevent recurrence.
    • Prepare and submit incident reports and analysis.

Regulatory Guidance:

    • Guide compliance with health and safety legislation and other regulatory agencies.
    • Stay updated on changes in safety and health regulations and ensure clients are informed.

Program Evaluation:

    • Evaluate the effectiveness of safety and health programs and make necessary adjustments to improve performance.
    • Provide ongoing support and recommendations for continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in occupational safety and health, including experience with risk assessments, safety program development, and regulatory compliance.
  • Certifications:  Preference will be given to applicants with education and certifications in any of the following: National Designation of CRSP – Canadian Registered Safety Professional, Canadian Registered Safety Technician, Gold Seal Construction Safety Coordinator, Certified Health and Safety Consultant or Certificate completion of an Occupational Health and Safety program.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to analyze complex safety issues and develop practical solutions.
  • Other Requirements:
    • Proven track record of working effectively with diverse industries and organizational sizes.
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Contract OH&S Trainers
Ongoing Applications

Description:

Safety Services is currently seeking contract trainers to conduct health and safety training to service all of Manitoba on an as needed basis. Most training will be held within the Winnipeg area and surrounding rural settings with occasional training in both Central and Northern Manitoba.

Duties:

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Prepare for, organize, and conduct theoretical and hands-on practical training to companies and individuals throughout Manitoba.
  • Working as part of a multi-trainer team in collaboration with Safety Services Manitoba clients throughout Manitoba.
  • Lead safety training modules, hands on demonstrations, verification, and testing of safe and proper use of equipment and evaluating participants learning as described in the course outline.
  • Travel to course locations, both at the Safety Services Manitoba training facility and to clients throughout Manitoba, including occasional overnight and multi-day sessions. Safety Services Manitoba will cover all associated travel costs.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent facilitation, written and oral communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Experience providing training to workers and adult learners, using popular education & interactive approaches
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups
  • Must demonstrate leadership quality and be able to work with minimal supervision

Credentials

  • Must possess a valid driver license and have a means of transportation to various training locations.
  • Strong writing/editing skills and computer competence required.
