Contract Road Safety Instructors – Brandon area

Safety Services Manitoba is seeking a part-time contract Road Safety Instructor to facilitate Road Safety courses in the Brandon area.

The successful candidate must:

  • Hold a current valid class 5 driver’s license minimum.
  • Must be available some evenings and weekends.
  • Must have working knowledge of the Manitoba Highway Act (HTA) and other related Road Safety Acts.
  • Must be comfortable with the use of computers and using Zoom, TEAMS, and PowerPoint.
  • Must be comfortable to facilitate in-person and online sessions with up to 20 students at a time.
  • Must have a clear driving record/abstract.
  • Must be able to obtain and provide a clear child abuse/criminal record check.

Consideration will be given to individuals who:

  • Hold or have held a Certified Manitoba Driver Instructor permit.
  • Driver Education Instructors.
  • Current or former teachers.
  • Members of the police or RCMP, current or retired.
  • Others with teaching or facilitating course experiences.

Contract OH&S Trainers
Ongoing Applications

Description:

Safety Services is currently seeking contract trainers to conduct health and safety training to service all of Manitoba on an as needed basis. Most training will be held within the Winnipeg area and surrounding rural settings with occasional training in both Central and Northern Manitoba.

Duties:

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Prepare for, organize, and conduct theoretical and hands-on practical training to companies and individuals throughout Manitoba.
  • Working as part of a multi-trainer team in collaboration with Safety Services Manitoba clients throughout Manitoba.
  • Lead safety training modules, hands on demonstrations, verification, and testing of safe and proper use of equipment and evaluating participants learning as described in the course outline.
  • Travel to course locations, both at the Safety Services Manitoba training facility and to clients throughout Manitoba, including occasional overnight and multi-day sessions. Safety Services Manitoba will cover all associated travel costs.

Additional responsibilities will include:

Qualifications:

  • Excellent facilitation, written and oral communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Experience providing training to workers and adult learners, using popular education & interactive approaches
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups
  • Must demonstrate leadership quality and be able to work with minimal supervision

Credentials

  • Must possess a valid driver license and have a means of transportation to various training locations.
  • Strong writing/editing skills and computer competence required.

Subject matter experts: applicants do not need to be proficient on all items listed below; however, Instructors/consultants must be able to train at least one of the following:

  • Fall Protection, Confined Space Entry, Mobile Elevated Work Platforms, Forklifts, Arc Flash, Skid Steer, Front End Loader, Overhead Crane, Truck Mounted Crane, Flag Person, TDG Air, TDG Ground, Spill Response, GHS/WHMIS, Safety Committee Basics, Incident Investigations, Confined Space Rescue, High Angle Rescue, Train the Trainer, First Aid etc.…
